FSRI is the leading multidisciplinary organization for rehabilitation services, counseling and psychological services, research, and health promotion in Kuwait and the Gulf region. It seeks to expand its services with the addition of a full-time Shadow Teacher.  

Students with learning difference often experience challenges in mainstream school settings and require the guidance of another professional other than the classroom teacher. Our shadow teachers, together with the combined team of professionals, aim to provide additional guidance and support in order for the student to successfully integrate into the mainstream environment.

The Shadow Teacher will provide additional academic, behavioral, and psychological support to the student at the child’s school and home. The shadow Teacher will support the student with the learning process, promote positive interaction in the classroom, help the student regulate behavior, and ensure the student stays focused in the classroom. The Shadow Teacher will also help the student prepare for class, and coaches the student with useful approaches to learning to better engage them in the educational process.

 

Job Description:

  • Help the student maintain appropriate classroom behavior.
  • Provide guidance in completing classroom activities.
  • Help the student achieve goals stated in their Individualized Educational Plan by implementing agreed-upon accommodations for student.
  • Perform regular data collection to monitor progress and maintain appropriate documentation.
  • Regularly update the parents and the child’s treatment team.

 

Requirements:

  • Must possess the physical and emotional health to carry out the position.
  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural setting.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of working in a nonprofit organization.
  • Ability to tolerate ambiguity and work with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Although fluency in Arabic would be an asset, it is not a requirement for this position.

Salary:

The salary is highly competitive and commensurate with education and experience. Additional benefits could include a tax-free salary, housing/housing allowance, annual airline tickets to their country of origin, and generous annual paid vacation.
